Overview
AAHA will host a three (3) day training on Intermediate Financial Management & Audit Preparation. This training will take a more comprehensive look into the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for Government accounting and preparedness for the annual audit of Financial Statements and Single Audit. The training will highlight best practices for the successful management and accounting of the NAHASDA funds in accordance with the NAHASDA statute and regulations. Resources and tools will be provided that the HUD/ONAP program recipients (Tribes and TDHEs) can utilize in the fiscal and internal control management of their IHBG funds.
Trainer
Maria Tagliavento brings over 32 years of experience and a practitioner’s perspective to the Financial Management Training. She has held a variety of accounting and auditing positions, including her 6 years with Aleutian Housing Authority, and 17 years with Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA), in the positions of Controller and Chief Financial Officer, and was directly involved in the preparation of financial and compliance reports, Indian Housing Plans, and the Annual Performance Reports, and internal audit functions. Marcie Sherer has over 32 years of accounting and management experience in various positions ranging from Staff Accountant to CFO, and has worked in the education, non-profit, tribal, and governmental arenas. She has over 14 years of housing related accounting experience and has direct experience in accounting systems, internal controls, financial reporting, financial audits, and preparing the Management Discussion and Analysis.
