About the event

Overview 

AAHA is hosting a three (3) day training on Housing Policy. Participants will become acquainted with the essential policy requirements under NAHASDA. Management, review and revision of policies will be discussed, and a thorough review of a sample policy developed for Alaska Tribes and TDHEs will be included. Some of the policy topics include: Applicable Alaska Law, Application Process, Eligibility and Ineligibility, Waiting Lists, Verification, Maintenance and Inspections, Hoarding, Collections, and Termination.


Trainer

Dawn Winalski is an experienced attorney who has been advocating for and on behalf of Tribes, Tribal organizations, Indigenous communities, Alaska Native organizations, municipal governments and non-profits for over 10 years. She tackles issues of environmental law, human rights, food security, Indigenous sovereignty, elections and more.


Who should attend? 

Employees of Regional Housing Authorities (RHA)/Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHE); Board of Directors, Procurement Staff, Housing Staff, Contract Administrators, Finance Staff, Project Managers, Inspectors, and Maintenance Directors.
