Overview
AAHA is hosting a four (4) day online workshop to provide an overview of PATHWAYS HOME: A NATIVE HOMEOWNERSHIP GUIDE, to bring Native communities resources needed to make homeownership a reality.
Pathways Home is a curriculum to help Tribes and TDHEs develop a comprehensive housing counseling program focusing on assisting tribal members to qualify for leasing, purchasing, and owning a home. Pathways Home is a program that can be tailored to each community’s needs.
This overview of the PATHWAYS HOME curriculum will provide participants with tools to implement a housing counseling program. Topics include, but are not limited to: Overview of Housing Counseling; Budgeting and Credit; Affordability; the Loan Process; Debt Management; Protecting Your Assets; and more. Participants will analyze scenarios requiring an assessment of a family’s financial situation and preparation of a plan designed to achieve the family’s housing goals.
Trainer
Cielo Gibson has been working with 1937 Act and NAHASDA housing programs for over 20 years. Her work includes development of homeownership programs and policies for numerous tribes. As a professional trainer and administrator of NAHASDA programs, Ms. Gibson has extensive experience with Indian Housing throughout the United States and Alaska.
