Overview
AAHA is hosting a three (3) day training to provide a comprehensive introduction to the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA). Participants will become familiar with the latest regulations, program guidance, and PIH Notices. A thorough review of eligible families and eligible activities including rental housing, homebuyer programs, rehabilitation, housing and crime prevention services will be provided. Major topics to be addressed include the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) formula, calculating income eligibility and adjusted gross income, moderate-income family assistances, and income verification. Other topics will include: Federal requirements impacting IHBG activities, such as useful life and binding commitments, environmental review requirements, total development costs, financial management and program administration, and the latest OMB regulations.
Trainer
Cielo Gibson has been working with 1937 Act and NAHASDA housing programs for over 32 years. Her work includes development of homeownership programs and policies for numerous tribes. As a professional trainer and administrator of NAHASDA programs, Ms. Gibson has extensive experience with Indian Housing throughout the United States and Alaska.
